Text of the provision
Art. 992. An illegitimate child has no right to inherit ab intestato from the legitimate children and relatives of his father or mother; nor shall such children or relatives inherit in the same manner from the illegitimate child.

What this article means
An illegitimate child has no right to inherit, in the absence of a will, from the legitimate children and other legitimate relatives of his or her father or mother; and those legitimate relatives likewise have no right to inherit in that way from the illegitimate child.
