Amended. Republic Act No. 10172 (2012) amended this Act, moving clerical or typographical errors in the DAY and MONTH of the date of birth, and in the SEX entry, into the same administrative route -- no court order needed. The text below is the 2001 original, so any statement here that age or sex cannot be corrected administratively overstates the law as it now stands.
Text of the provision
Sec. 8. Payment of Fees. – The city or municipal civil registrar or the consul general shall be authorized to collect reasonable fees as a condition for accepting the petition. An indigent petitioner shall be exempt from the payment of the said fee.

What this section means
