Text of the provision

Art. 71. The management of the household shall be the right and the duty of both spouses. The expenses for such management shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of Article 70.

What this article means

Managing the household is a shared right and duty of both spouses, not the exclusive domain of either. The expenses that management generates are paid in the same order set out in Article 70 — community property first, then the income of separate property, then separate property itself.
