Text of the provision
Art. 69. The husband and wife shall fix the family domicile. In case of disagreement, the court shall decide.
The court may exempt one spouse from living with the other if the latter should live abroad or there are other valid and compelling reasons for the exemption. However, such exemption shall not apply if the same is not compatible with the solidarity of the family.

What this article means
The spouses jointly fix the family domicile; if they disagree, the court decides, not either spouse unilaterally. The court can also excuse one spouse from the Article 68 duty to live together — commonly where that spouse works or resides abroad, or for other valid and compelling reasons — but only if doing so does not undermine the solidarity of the family.
