Text of the provision
Art. 543. Each one of the participants of a thing possessed in common shall be deemed to have exclusively possessed the part which may be allotted to him upon the division thereof, for the entire period during which the co-possession lasted. Interruption in the possession of the whole or a part of a thing possessed in common shall be to the prejudice of all the possessors. However, in case of civil interruption, the Rules of Court shall apply.

What this article means
Each participant in a thing possessed in common is deemed to have exclusively possessed their allotted part for the whole period of co-possession, upon division. Interruption of possession of the whole or part prejudices all the co-possessors (subject to the Rules of Court on civil interruption).
