What this article means
A rarely invoked but telling provision on social solidarity. During a period of acute public want or emergency, ostentatious, thoughtless spending on pleasure or display may be enjoined by the courts — on the petition of a government agency or a charitable institution. It reflects the Code's view that private conduct has a social dimension in times of shared hardship.
