Text of the provision
Art. 2035. No compromise upon the following questions shall be valid:
(1) The civil status of persons;
(2) The validity of a marriage or a legal separation;
(3) Any ground for legal separation;
(4) Future support;
(5) The jurisdiction of courts;
(6) Future legitime.

What this article means
Some things are not for sale, even by agreement. No compromise is valid upon the civil status of persons; the validity of a marriage or a legal separation; any ground for legal separation; future support; the jurisdiction of courts; or the future legitime. Parties may settle the money already due; they may not bargain away status, a court's competence, or an heir's compulsory share before it exists.
