Text of the provision
Art. 1162. Obligations derived from quasi-delicts shall be governed by the provisions of Chapter 2, Title XVII of this Book, and by special laws.

Obligations from quasi-delicts (fault or negligence causing damage where there is no pre-existing contract) are governed by the Code's Title on quasi-delicts (Arts. 2176 et seq.) and special laws. This is the law of torts in the Civil Code.
