Philippine labor law sets out several monetary benefits every covered employee is entitled to. This tool computes the most common ones — 13th month pay, holiday pay, overtime, and night shift differential — and for each one it shows the formula and the provision behind it, so you can check the number rather than take it on faith.
Pick a benefit, enter the figures it needs, and the calculator works it out one benefit at a time. Real payslips often combine these — overtime worked at night on a holiday stacks several rates together — which is exactly the kind of computation worth having a lawyer check.
Choose a benefit
For a full year, enter 12. For a partial year, count from 1 January (or your hire date) to your last day.
Your basic pay for one ordinary working day.
Hourly rate is often your daily rate ÷ 8. Check your payslip.
The benefits, and the rates
- 13th month pay — one-twelfth (1/12) of the basic salary you earn in a calendar year, due on or before December 24. A departing employee is owed the pro-rated share for the part of the year worked. (PD 851)
- Regular holiday — you are paid your regular daily wage even if you do not work (100%); if you do work, you are paid twice your regular rate for the first eight hours (200%). (Art. 94)
- Special (non-working) day — the "no work, no pay" principle applies, but if you work, you get an extra 30% (130% of your daily rate for the first eight hours). (Art. 93 and DOLE rules)
- Overtime — work beyond eight hours on an ordinary day is paid your hourly rate plus at least 25% (125%). Overtime on a rest day or holiday is higher. (Art. 87)
- Night shift differential — an extra 10% of your hourly rate for each hour worked between 10pm and 6am, on top of your ordinary pay. (Art. 86)
Why this does one benefit at a time
The statutory rates combine when conditions overlap: overtime worked at night on a special day that is also your rest day stacks the premiums on top of one another, and the order of computation matters. A single figure that tried to blend everything would hide more than it showed. This tool keeps each benefit honest and separate; if your situation stacks several, that is precisely when the exact figure — and whether your employer computed it correctly — is worth a professional check.
The legal basis
- Presidential Decree No. 851 — 13th month pay: 1/12 of basic salary earned within the calendar year.
- Article 86, Labor Code (PD 442) — night shift differential of not less than 10% of the regular wage for each hour worked between 10pm and 6am.
- Article 87, Labor Code — overtime: regular wage plus at least 25% for work beyond eight hours on an ordinary day.
- Article 93, Labor Code — at least 30% additional compensation for work on a rest day or special day.
- Article 94, Labor Code — regular holiday pay: the regular daily wage even if unworked; twice the regular rate if worked.
