Your case is filed with the Taguig Family Court
Petitions for declaration of nullity and for annulment are filed with the Family Court of Taguig, provided you or your spouse has resided in Taguig for at least six months before filing. Taguig is home to Bonifacio Global City, and following the Supreme Court’s resolution of the long-running Makati–Taguig boundary dispute, the Fort Bonifacio area including BGC is recognized as within Taguig’s territorial jurisdiction — so BGC residents file here, and venue turns on residence, not on where you were married.
A BGC-specific pattern: the spouse abroad or a foreign spouse
Taguig and BGC have a large population of young professionals, multinational staff, and Filipinos married to foreign nationals. Two situations come up constantly. Where the respondent is overseas or cannot be located, summons may require service by publication, which is the most common source of delay and added cost. And where a marriage to a foreign national was already divorced abroad, the remedy is not annulment at all but recognition of the foreign divorce — a different, usually faster case.
What actually happens, in order
- Case build-up — facts, documents, and, for an Article 36 case, the psychological evaluation;
- Filing with the Taguig Family Court and payment of docket fees;
- Service of summons on the respondent, by publication where they are abroad;
- Prosecutor’s investigation for collusion, required in every case;
- Trial, then decision, finality, and annotation with the civil registrar and the PSA.
Timeline and cost, honestly
An uncontested petition commonly runs one to three years to a registered annotation. Cost is driven by the psychological evaluation, publication, and docket fees. See the full picture on our annulment hub, and estimate the total with the annulment cost calculator.

Frequently asked
Where do I file for annulment if I live in BGC?
With the Family Court of Taguig, because Bonifacio Global City lies within Taguig. You or your spouse must have resided in Taguig for at least six months before filing, and venue depends on that residence rather than on where the wedding took place.
My spouse is a foreigner and we divorced abroad. Do I file annulment?
No. If your marriage to a foreign national was validly dissolved abroad, the correct case is recognition of the foreign divorce, not annulment. It is a separate petition that is usually faster because there is no psychological evaluation; it turns on proving the divorce decree and the foreign law.
How long does annulment take for a Taguig filing?
Commonly one to three years for an uncontested petition, from filing to a registered PSA annotation. The largest variable is service of summons, which takes longer and costs more when the respondent is overseas and must be served by publication.
Is the case over once the court grants it?
Not for your records. The decision must become final and then be registered and annotated with the local civil registrar and the PSA before your civil status changes. Until that annotation appears, you are still considered married.
